The best way to get over an ex is to get under someone else or behind a bottle of rum, right? Wrong! While this feels like a momentary victory, in the end, it always makes things worse. Since every breakup is different, there is never a real answer to getting over someone you love (or now hate), when the relationship comes to a close. The makers of Mend, a new app designed to help you get over your ex, are aware of the trials and tribulations of breakups, so they’re here with a solution (Finally!).
Mend is like your own free “personal trainer” to talk you off the ledge and keep you in check after a terrible breakup. Ellen Huerta, the creator of Mend, designed the app to use journalism, original content, and progress-tracking throughout the whole ordeal so you can actually keep tabs on yourself while you climb out of the pit of despair.
All you have to do is download the app and enter your breakup date and why it came to an end (no Steve, it was not mutual). It doesn’t stop there! You will also confess the last time you talked to your ex or contacted them in any way. Mend comes complete with a personal assistant, Elle, who will sweetly guide you through your first session and let you know that you’re not alone with your creepy Facebook stalking and urges to send drunk texts. Actually, it’s completely normal.
The “28-Day Heartbreak Cleanse” will also come in handy by helping you heal faster. Through the rest of the sessions, you are given daily audio clips for motivation, and have full access to a 24/7 support line so you don’t call your ex instead.
Mend even goes one step further by asking you to check in periodically to track your healthy choices. This could be anything from exercise to surrounding yourself with good friends.
Huerta has made it very clear that anyone who feels they should seek clinical therapy, should do so because Mend is not a replacement for professional help.
Thanks to this app, you can be back on the field in no time, meeting hot single ladies as a new, confident version of yourself instead of wallowing in heartbreak. Enough with the drunk texts, it’s time to take your love life back with Mend!
Just try not to go all Joaquin Phoenix in Her on us and fall in love with Elle. Spoiler alert: dating the app is not an option.
