We all need the chance to escape reality with the occasional vacation from time to time. However, if you’re planning your next getaway and you’re in a new relationship, you may want to be extra careful in your selection of vacation spots. They say you never really know someone until you’ve traveled with them, and that’s when their true colors really come out. We recommend testing out a weekend trip somewhere close to home before planning anything overseas. Here’s a list of places to avoid when taking a new girl away for your first trip.

Caribbean Cruise

This should be a no brainer but absolutely under no circumstances book a cruise with someone you’re still learning about. If things go south, there’s no hiding from her! Not only are you stuck on a boat for a minimum of 5-7 days depending on the destination, but you can’t even rent a different room to escape because they’re typically all booked up. The bottom line is, don’t strand yourself in the middle of the ocean with any woman until you know for sure she’s not a psycho.

Mexico is cheap and a ton of fun, especially if you visit Rocky Point. As much as Mexico has become increasingly more safe for tourists over the years, you must still keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings. Until you know how your girl acts in a somewhat dangerous environment, be cautious. You don’t want to spend your weekend getaway terrified you’re going to get robbed or your girl’s going to get kidnapped. Enjoy a peaceful weekend full of relaxing and drinking instead.

As mentioned earlier, a weekend trip close to home is highly recommended…as long as it’s not camping. Yes, camping would be a great way to test how adventurous and fun she is. But, if she turns out to be a total diva, it’s not going to end well. If you’re the outdoorsy type and plan on camping out a week or more, you may want to reconsider bringing her along until you’re sure she won’t be one of those girls that complains the entire trip. Maybe save that camping trip for a boy’s weekend.

For your first vacation together, try sticking to something small like a bed and breakfast weekend up north, or something that’s preferably only a few hours away. Once she passes the test, you can start planning the more extravagant trips and hopefully gain an awesome travel buddy while you’re at it!
