If you ask your dog to bring you a beer he’ll most likely respond with a look of confusion paired with a slight head tilt. Oh well, it never hurts to dream, right? But what if there really was a way? A way you could politely ask your dog for a drink while you watch the big game and next thing you see is him making a mad dash for the kitchen.

Well friends, thanks to Boston Dynamics, this may soon become a reality!

The “SpotMini” may have you wondering whether it’s a long necked dog or just a really small giraffe. Its lack of skin is kind of scary, but its metallic skeleton at least reassures us that it isn’t real and won’t try to kill us at night. If it was covered with a silicone flesh then it would just be really creepy. However, if it can fetch a beer then looks really don’t matter in the end.

Not only it this bot smart enough to bring you stuff, but it will even play a tug of war game in the process! That being said, you may want to give it a few minutes before opening any carbonated beverages after delivery…

Other than being a little robotic butler, it can crawl beneath tables and skip up stairs. The best part is it can even move dishes from the sink into the dishwasher, which comes in handy if you live with lazy roommates. Using its multifunctional neck and grabbing claw, it can also gracefully recover from a banana peel-induced fall, which officially makes it more balanced than most humans.

If the laws of the tech universe require robots to dance, entertain us, serve us beverages and be independent in order to be considered “well designed,” then it seems that SpotMini has all the right qualities.
