WE’RE TALKING DOUGHNUTS PEOPLE! Expensive doughnuts…

Just five months after creating a once-in-a-lifetime (or so we thought) concoction, Manila Social Club’s executive chef and co-owner Bjorn DelaCruz was back at it again (and not with the white Vans.)

DelaCruz, created the Golden Ube Cristal Doughnut back in January, a $100 delicacy filled with ube mousse, champagne jelly, icing made of Cristal and doused in 24-karat gold.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year, DelaCruz decided to take his talents to whole new level by creating the Patron Platinum Doughnut. The pastry, made with platinum and Patron Platinum Tequila, is said to be worth $150 per doughnut. Damn, I bet that tastes good!

Filled with cream and a spicy ginger-jalapeno margarita jelly, this platinum dessert is essentially a rose-petal doughnut slathered with sweet tequila frosting then covered in sparkling sheets of edible silver and platinum.

Although doughnuts are regularly available at Manila Social, these classy O’s were only available for Cinco de Mayo. But, if you wait just a few more months, perhaps DelaCruz will develop a completely different treat to try. After all, no one thought he could surpass the golden goodness dessert he created back in January.

The best part is all of the proceeds from the sales of the doughnuts went to the American Cancer Society.

So you’re saying we can eat like pigs and feel good about ourselves afterwards? I’m in!
